Dozens of supporters sponsored and attended our First Annual “Walk For The Treehouse” which took place September 22, 2007 at El Dorado Park in Long Beach, California. Together we walked a beautiful 3-mile trail to show our support for Treehouse initiative and raise money. People participating filled their own Sponsor Sheet and raised funds for the upcoming Adopt-A-Family Holiday event. The night before it just poured rain, streets were flooded, it wasn’t looking too good. However, the rain let up long enough to finish the walk and we almost escaped it before starting our Bar-b-Que! Oh well, a few soggy hamburger buns later the weather cleared, we rung out our jackets and headed home.

Be The Cause is the non-profit group that organizes this annual walk. They invite small charities, like the Treehouse, to join the event and independently create their own fundraiser. To me, that translates more fun and less work!!  So many of our events are labor intensive because we’re re-inventing the wheel.   This time our volunteers just got to show up and enjoy the day. My personal fundraising goal was $1,000 and thanks to all of my benevolent spectacular friends and family I came very close!!!
